The Wings returned home from a two-game road trip, which resulted in a narrow 3-2 shootout win over the Canadiens on Saturday and a 3-1 loss to Nashville on Monday. The one positive in the loss to the Preds was forward Drew Miller scoring his first goal in the Winged Wheel.

The Detroit media and bloggers commented on the loss and what it means: Babcock’s Death Stare, Big Red Machine, Bingo Bango, Detroit Free Press, The Detroit News, Hockeytown StaticMLive.com, Nightmare on Helm Street, On the Wings, Red Wings Blog, Snipe Snipe, Dangle Dangle, The Production Line, The Triple Deke, and Winging It In Motown.

Coach Mike Babcock says he will shuffle his defensive pairings tonight vs. Atlanta at the Joe. He also told MLive.com that Jimmy Howard will get the start in goal tonight.

  1. Versus coverage of NHL Hockey is terrible! It has been since inception! The play by play teams talk to ach other while action is on the ice. Fox Channel is superb! Our guys know our team and the opposition better than any of the other Versus pairs.
Check out the sound! You can’t even hear them describe the game, especially if it’s exciting. Boo for Versus.

  2. It could be worse. I pay for Center Ice so I get to watch all the Wings games. It gets blacked out for NHL channel, Versus and Altitude(Colorado’s channel). They get progressively worse in that order.

  3. Anybody know of a DVD, or three, in process on Steve Yzerman’s career (Draft through HOF Induction)? I’d like it to sit next to my Red Wings Box set and 2008 Champs DVD.

NHL? Mr Illitch? You know they would sell like hotcakes!

What a great Christmas present to myself that could’ve been this year!

  4. the wings got to find ways to win some games, are they ever going to use the ones we have in reserve & rest the players playing now? GO RED WINGS!!!!!!

  5. please bring back the red wing e-cards so I can email my family and friends to let them know i’m a red wings fan thanks!

  6. I don,t know what the problem with the team is right now, or, where any blame for their sad state of plays lays, but sad to say, this does not look like a CUP contending team, at this point in the season.. Quite crudely put, the Wings STINK, right now…

  7. I know the problem. Their goaltending sucks. If ownership thinks Osgood is going to go on a roll like he did in the playoffs last year they have to realize they have to make the playoffs first and the way their playing right now thats not going to happen.
