After suffering a 6-2 drubbing at the hands of the Buffalo Sabres, the Detroit Red Wings bounced back with a 5-2 victory over the LA Kings in front of the Joe Louis Arena crowd Thursday night. Jonathan Ericsson, Tomas Holmstrom, Henrik Zetterberg, Kirk Maltby, and Brian Rafalski (empty-netter) all scored in the win.

Michael Caples breaks down the game for DRW.com, including a look at Maltby’s great goal. A couple of bloggers commented on the game, including Red Wings Blog, Nightmare on Helm Street, and The Triple Deke.

The best moment of the night was when captain Nick Lidstrom registered his 1,000th career point on an assist for the game’s fourth goal. Lidstrom recorded two helpers in the contest, receiving a standing ovation from the fans in attendance when the PA announced his milestone. He joins Mats Sundin as the only two Swedish-born players to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

  1. The JV team, or the JV line.

Mickey York was asking about a line nickname for Williams,Leino,Filpula line.

  2. 3rd line at best

  3. well from some one from Michigan and now in Arizona I really wanted to see the Wings beat the crap out of the coyatoes but they did not what happened and right now they dont sound too good either

  4. like i said they are losing it again mike better figure out some thing or we are not going to have a good season

  5. Wings need to do something quick. I live in Colorado and I can’t listen to the Avs fans all season. The sad part is all the Avs fans were talking about how bad their team was going to be this year, and the Wings forgot how to play a complete game.

  6. Kenny get Shanahan back now. Send Ericksson to the minors bring up Andy Delmore he is quicker and a solid positional defenceman. Another goalie should be found also, Howard just isn’t the answer.
